Kiwanis Club of Mukilteo Week of August 7, 2017

Good Sunday members,
I hope you are surviving the heat and spending quality time with those you love. I have made that a priority this week in particular.
Al’s funeral is this Thursday at St. Mary Magadalen Church, 8615 7th Avenue, Everett. Viewing is at 1, mass at 2 and a reception at 3. We can all help Linda Dantico by bringing food to the reception; many of us will be pall bearers. Having as many members there will be a comfort to the family and will pay our respects to the service and dedication of Al to Kiwanis. He was a champion for all that Kiwanis and our club stands for. Please contact me if you have transportation needs to attend.
We have a Board meeting in the morning at the Bank of Washington, and it’s open to all members. We’ll be reviewing July’s minutes, YTD financials, Salmon Bake planning, selection of Kiwanian of the Month, and planning for the Board retreat (September  23) and installation banquet on September 27.
This week’s meeting will feature Allison Warren-Barbour, CEO of United Way of Snohomish County. She is a wonderful speaker and new leader of this important non-profit in this county. Please support her by attending Wednesday morning’s meeting. Agenda attached.
Thank you to Dana, Joan and Pam for assisting at National Night Out last Tuesday at the Y. We popped tons of popcorn and made many kids and family happy with our friendliness and smiles, the Kiwanis way! Thanks, Cory, for taking care of us with a canopy and being a smoothie runner!
Cocoon House is next Sunday, and I am the lead chef. It’s a busy month for many of us, so I’m planning pizza, salad, pop and a fun dessert. Simple yet always popular. Please contact me if you are interested in helping, thanks!
Don’t forget that if you have shirts, aprons, etc. that you’d like to have embroidered with the Kiwanis logo, August 16 is the deadline to turn them in with a $15 check for each item. I plan to have a blue apron and polo shirt embroidered.
See you Wednesday morning!
