Schools out, summer is here – is everyone on vacation? We had about 15 at our meeting last week. Although the speaker had a scheduling conflict and didn’t attend, we have a full slate of speakers until September. They may get up early, prepare and drive to Mukilteo to give us their best, let’s reciprocate by being there for them! Hopefully that was a gentle ask..maybe having weekly meetings or speakers during the summer is something to reconsider. Let me hear your thoughts on that.
Conrad Mounsey visitied us last week at the recommendation of Paul. He’s a Kamiak grad and getting married soon (a two-fer!), and we loved having him visit. I now have a stack of applications in my Kiwanis binder! Since we had some extra time, Gloria gave us a lovely “Getting to Know You” story about her wonderful family.
Cocoon House tonight. Thanks Anita for being our lead chef, and for Joan, Dana and Riaz for volunteering their time and food.
Our speaker this week is Michael Mathis from the Burned Children Recovery Foundation. From their website: The BCRF is committed to a single goal as a national recovery agency providing Emotional Support and Financial Aid to Burned Children and their Families since 1989. We believe every burned child should have an opportunity to heal from both physical and emotional injuries. Our foundation strives to offer these children from all socio economical backgrounds these opportunities. Agenda July 12 2017 attached.
Birthday week for Lynne Miller, Debra Bordsen and Wendy Grace! Boom!
Salmon Bake: The Lodge has donated 20 – $25 gift cards as their sponsorship; these are available for purchase but have an expiration of October 1, 2017. These make great gifts. See Pam or Nancy. Letters to sponsors went out last week; if you want to write a sponsor check and want a letter, let me know.
Want more Kiwanis logo wear? We have a source to embroider the logo on shirts, etc. and we’re looking at ordering hats from KI. Cost is $12- $15 per piece; please purchase your own navy or royal blue, white or gold shirts (polo, long, short or sleeveless shirts, etc.) Deadline is August 15 to have them ready for the Salmon Bake.
Make it a great week!
